AI literacy is often framed as knowing the difference between a model, an agent, and a workflow. Terminology helps, but it is not the goal. The goal is being able to ask better questions when the answer is uncertain.

Leaders do not need to become machine-learning engineers. They do need a working feel for what these systems do well, how they fail, and how quickly the surrounding capabilities are changing.

Build a learning cadence

A quarterly strategy deck cannot keep a team current. A better pattern is small and regular: inspect one real workflow, test one new capability, and discuss one failure mode every month.

Over time, the organization develops shared judgment. Teams become less vulnerable to both hype and reflexive skepticism.

Stay close to the work

The strongest AI strategy is informed by direct observation. Watch people use the tools. Read the outputs. Notice where they hesitate. The useful truth tends to live in those details, not in a market map.
